The base however was a thin black material, and our dog took one day to completely destroy it! We were therefore left with an outer 'ring' and the cushion, which wasn't substantial enough for the dog to sleep in. We have subsequently binned the 'ring' but have kept the cushion and have used it in another bed. I would recommend the bed if your dog doesn't chew!
